About Us

Welcome to the IRES Foundation, sponsor of The National School on Market Regulation

Our Foundation:
The IRES Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation and educational trust pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation’s board is comprised of industry professionals interested in an effective insurance marketplace, many of whom are former regulators.

Our Mission:

The Foundation's mission is to promote the professionalism of insurance regulators and to educate the private sector about state insurance regulation.

Our Work:

The Foundation has carried out its mission by funding not-for-profit educational and training programs through grants to qualifying organizations. Two extremely important programs funded and promoted by the Foundation are the annual National School on Market Regulation, bringing together regulators and industry professionals to explore market issues, and the MCM Designation conferred by the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society. The MCM Designation is an intensive program meant to enhance the understanding of market regulation for both industry compliance professionals and insurance department regulators of the marketplace.

Our Benefits:

The Foundation's work ultimately benefits all those involved in or affected by insurance regulation. Well-trained and well-equipped regulators do a better job of protecting the public and monitoring the insurance marketplace. Regulators who continue their education are better positioned to regulate and communicate with the insurance industry, resulting in a clearer understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations.
